Four young classic musicians from Laois are playing a concert this Friday in Portlaoise Parish Centre in aid of Temple Street children’s hospital.
The Vltava String Quartet is composed of Eoghan Bergin, Michael McCrohan, Erin Dollard and Matt Rafter.
The four became friends while studying at the Laois School of Music, and seven years ago formed the Vltava String Quartet, performing in venues ranging from the Electric Picnic to President Michael D Higgin’s summer garden party, as well as individually in many orchestras.
One of the musicians Eoghan Bergin from Portlaoise, organised the fundraiser in association with 100minds.org, a student organisation who are trying to raise €100,000 for the hospital, and are now at €93,000.
“I think it’s a great cause and has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of patients and families of Temple Street Children’s Hospital,” said Mr Bergin, a business and law student in UCD.
The night begins at 8pm. Tickets at €10 are available on the door, or from Eoghan (0857784602), email@example.com.
