A number of workshops will be held around the county as part of this year’s Laois Heritage Week.

On Saturday, August 23, local artist Conor Brennan brings a workshop on drawing the beauty of the natural world to Portlaoise Library. The children’s workshop will take place at 10.30am, while the adult one takes place at 12.30pm.

Admission is free and booking is essential as places are limited. See www.laoislibraries.ie.

Also on August 23, a kids’ shipwreck dig workshop will be held at 10.30am in Abbeyleix’s Heritage House. Following on from the award-winning kids’ archaeology experience held last year, this workshop is for children aged eight to 12 and booking is essential.

See www.abbeyleixheritage.com.

And on Wednesday, August 27, Laois based artist Robert Stack will deliver a painting workshop at Mountmellick Library. The children’s workshop will take place at 11am (for nine to 12 year-olds), while the adults’ workshop takes place at 2pm.

Booking is required for these workshops, so visit www.laoislibraries.ie for more.
