A CHRISTMAS gift photography exhibition will open in Mountrath next Monday, December 10. A ‘Christmas Gift Exhibition’ by Alf Harvey’s METAC photography classes will be opened in Eddie Phelan’s Restaurant where up to 30 participants will put their work on show in this unique exhibition format.
The exhibition will be opened by the very entertaining Farming Independent Editor Declan O’Brien, who himself has a keen eye for a picture.
Following on from the very successful exhibition last year where 14 participants exhibited four prints each, this collection contains individual framed prints which are actual Christmas presents for people.
“The experience from taking the picture, to print and framing takes careful thought and skill, and that makes the present very personal”, Alf told the Leinster Express.
“People of all ages can capture an image with camera or phone, print and frame for themselves or have as a gift for somebody. These days everybody has their pictures either on phone or computer but they rarely print to hang or place somewhere where the picture can be enjoyed by all.
“For children what better present - at a low cost - could they give a parent, family member or friend while making it personal? I’m sure anybody who sees these pictures will appreciate the quality that is there. I’m very grateful to the METAC Centre in Mountrath who facilitate the classes and Eddie Phelan for making his space available to host the event”.
In the classes continuing support of the LSPCA, a collection towards their continued great work will be made on the evening. The exhibition is officially opened next Monday at 7pm but for those who are unable to make it on the night, it will remain open until Thursday, December 20.
