People have until the end of this month to register events that will showcase Laois’ heritage nationally for National Heritage Week 2014.

Coordinated by the Heritage Council with Laois County Council locally, National Heritage Week takes place nationwide from August 23-31.

“Heritage Week has gone from strength to strength in Laois with over 60 events and hundreds of participants in communities across the county last year,” says Laois Heritage Officer Catherine Casey. “We hope that 2014 will be even better, and the Heritage Office is available to help communities, groups or individuals planning events to celebrate their local heritage. So whether it’s a bat walk, a battle re-enactment or a historical talk, we hope that people will join us in planning the best Heritage Week ever for County Laois”

Events registered by May 31 will be listed in the National Heritage Week Event Guide. See www.heritageweek.ie .
