The story of St Brigid comes to the Dunamaise

The Cloak

The Cloak

The tour of the stage production The Cloak which tells the story of one of Ireland’s best known saints is staged in Portlaoise later this year.

Launched recently in Kildare, The Cloak brings to reality the epic life journey of the legendary St Brigid and her mother Broicseach, showcasing singing, Irish dancing, a choir, a full orchestra and film, shot on location, highlighting Ireland’s unique landscape.

The Cloak debuted in September 2013 in Kildare Cathedral, a four night sell out season that no doubt pleased the producers Anne Marie and Andrew Brain and Director/Writer Padraig J Dunne who have been on a whirlwind adventure since starting this project less than a year ago.

The talented Nichola Kavanagh dances the role of St Brigid and has captivated the audience with her energy and grace. “I am delighted to accept the challenge of choreographing our sequences to a new original score of music and welcome our expanding troupe of experienced dancers, stunning vocalists and hard working crew. I am excited to be involved in such an electric fusion of talent in The Cloak 2014”.

The production combines film, dance and song. It visits the Dunamaise in May.
