Town’s library needs model readers

Portlaoise library is inviting the public to take part in a project that combines photography and litreature.

As part of helping to “start a conversation about reading in Portlaoise” the library is inviting the public to come along to have a photograph taken of you with your favourite book.

The professionally taken photographs will form part of an exhibition for local display.

The event takes place on April 10 from 5pm to 7pm,

The Library would like to sincerely thank all who took part in Seachtain na Gaeilge events. Special thanks to Gabriel Lynam school of Dancing, 5th & 6th class from Scoil Mhuire, Comhaltas Portlaoise, the Ciorcal Comhrá, Maureen Culleton and Mountmellick Active Retirement Group, Martin Sinnott and Mairín Scully.

Meanwhile, award-winning author, Niamh Boyce, Niamh visits Portlaoise Library to discuss her award winning novel, the Herbalist on Thursday 17 April, 7pm. All welcome.

The writer has also been lined up to run creative writing workshops over the coming weeks.

Ms Boyce shares her skills and experiences of writing over a four week series of workshops at Portlaoise Library each Thursday from April 1-22 April each night at 7pm.
