Timahoe man Kevin Quigley marks a milestone in his musical career with the new release of his debut EP Catch You Down the Road.

The new record is self-produced and is described as an “intimate” collection that carries the “weight of lived experience, quiet moments, turning points, and the stories that don’t always make it out of your mind”.

Rooted in indie folk, country and Americana music, it's claimed that songs offer a “real presence”.

“With lyrical storytelling at its core, the EP explores love, time, change and the spaces in between, the sound of an artist slowing down to share something real," says a launch statement to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

Kevin says the focus track and title song, Catch You Down the Road, sits at the centre of the project. It adds that with its “unhurried arrangement, it’s less polish and “more about truth”. MORE BELOW PHOTO.

“These songs are about the human heart, about finding meaning in the in-between,” Quigley says.

Kevin describes his growth as both songwriter and producer as being the "defining feature", following the reflective single Clock Ticks On released in August.

His songwriting has seen him share stages with Mary Black, Hermitage Green and The Pale, alongside sell-out shows in storied Irish venues such as Whelan’s, Cork Opera House and Connolly’s of Leap in Cork.

The musician got into music at the age of 13, and attributes his passion to his family and Timahoe NS for nurturing young talents.

“When I was 13 I first picked up a guitar, and I started writing a few tunes with the two or three chords I knew,” Kevin told the Leinster Express / Laois Live earlier this year.

He played his first gig aged 16 and started playing pub gigs from about 18.

Kevin has fronted a six -piece band Kevin Quigley & The Great Ideas, who have played who have style similar to industry giants such as Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen

Catch You Down the Road is described as being a both personal track, but also an open road for anyone who’s ever felt caught between where they’ve been and where they’re going.

The EP is available on all major streaming platforms from September 26.
