On the 23rd June next, St Lazarian's Abbeyleix GAA Club brings the hugely popular '€20,000 Drop' to the Manor Hotel in Abbeyleix.
This show has attracted large audiences all over Ireland over the past seven years, and is fast becoming the most popular source of fund-raising for schools and clubs. Contestants are drawn from ticket sales and each contestant will play for €2,500.
Contestants will be asked ten questions and must place their cash on the correct answers. If some cash is placed on an incorrect answer, it is lost and contestants go on to the next questions with the remaining money.
The aim is to reach question ten and have some cash left. The show is fully computerised with lifelines to help contestants along the way. The questions and four possible answers and displayed on two 8ft x 6ft screens, one at each side of the stage.
This incredibly successful show, which is provided by Pallas Marketing Ltd, is being run by St Lazarian's Abbeyleix GAA Club to assist in fundraising for development of our club facilities but especially our club house and provision for more toilets.
The launch night for the show was held in the Manor Hotel on Wednesday 23rd May and a large attendance. We spoke to Chairman Niall Ryan about the show at the launch night who advised as follows. “We have been in contact with several others groups who ran, '€20,000 Drop' around the country with great success.
“We are all looking forward to a great night on the 23rd June next as the show is really hi-tech and offers a superb night’s entertainment. The show is timed to start at 8pm and we would encourage people to come early to ensure a seat” said Ryan.
“We would also like to say a particular word of thanks to our major sponsors, Enva, Gs Gourmet Jam, Breslins Super Valu, Imagine LTE, Telfords, Dreambox, O'Donnells Pharmacy, People First Credit Union, DS Sports and The Manor Hotel and to all of those who have taken out advertising at the show”, he continued.
There is still some large screen digital advertising space available for the show, please contact Denise Bonham (086-8580857) for further information.
A limited number of family tickets priced at €50 are now on sale from committee members and at Fr. Breen Park on Thursday evenings from 6.30-7.30. The club would encourage everyone to get your ticket early to avoid disappointment.
This is a family friendly event, and is guaranteed to be a great night’s entertainment for all – young and old alike.
