Catherine Fulvio draws great crowd to cookery demo in Portlaoise

Food - Making the most of it part of Laois County Council's waste prevention promotion project

TV cook Catherine Fulvio made a welcome return to Laois this week to help to reduce our ‘waste line’ during food waste prevention cookery demonstration in Portlaoise .

There was a huge turnout for 'Food - Making the most of it' demonsration in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise on Wednesday, January 24.

This awareness initiative, backed by Laois County Council, was organised to promote the prevention of food waste, the segregation of food waste from other waste streams in the home and the use of the brown bin.

The event focused on meal planning, promoting the benefits of using a shopping list and storing food properly to get the maximum use and value from it all while Catherine creates mouth watering dishes with a strong food waste prevention message.

The free event complemented the ‘Stop Food Waste Challenge’ run by the council's Environment Section.

Please contact Ann-Marie Kelly, Environment Awareness Officer on 087 2492293 to get further information regarding the ‘Stop Food Waste’ challenge or to find out how to correctly use your brown bin.

Photographer Alf Harvey covered the cookery demonstration in Portlaoise.
