IN PICTURES: Big Portlaoise sendoff for Ukraine truck convoy

Three big trucks have left Portlaoise for the Poland Ukraine border packed with local donations of emergency supplies.

Martley's Transport are driving at their own cost, after their appeal to Portlaoise creches, schools and businesses brought in over 100 pallets of goods.

They beeped their way out of the Borris road campus of Scoil Chríost Rí and St Mary's CBS on Tuesday, March 22, cheered on by nearly 2,000 students and staff.

Luke Wynne was there for the Leinster Express to capture the moment.
