Laois teens pelted in colours at Comhairle na nÓg funrun

Laois teenagers from schools and youth groups took part in a brilliantly coloured fun run last Friday, getting pelted by multicoloured powder as they ran, all in the name of fun and togetherness.

Laois Comhairle na nÓg, organised the 3km funrun on the banks of the Grand Canal in Vicarstown, in line with the national 2022 chosen theme of Mental Health.

The run resulted in a mass of rainbow colours and sheer delight by the participants who reached the finish line covered in colours.
They were further boosted by live music from young Laois band Paper Planes at Vicarstown Community Centre.

Evelyn Lewis of El Fit gave the crowd a vigorous warmup before they set off.

Niamh Kavanagh is Laois coordinator at Comhairle na nÓg, the council for young people aged 12 to 18.

"The members came up with the plan of a coloured fun run to create good memories, something that everyone can get involved in, by getting all the schools, family resource centres and youthreaches involved, to bring the Laois community together in a positive vibe especially after the past two years," she explained.
