Halloween fun and world cuisine at Portlaoise Educate Together

An annual Halloween party with a tasty multicultural theme was a spooky success at Portlaoise Educate Together NS recently.

The Halloween Cusine party invites school families to dress up and bring in homemade dishes reflecting their culture for a big party.

The school Halla was packed with grizzly ghouls and happy children dancing to their hearts content.
“This is a wonderful event for parents and families get to know one another and chat in a relaxed environment,” said Mimi Cullen, chairperson of the Parents Association.

“The parents and school community are amazing in their support of these events by the parents association, said Hazel Byrne staff and PA member.

To fundraise towards a sports field for the Summerhill campus, the PA opened a pop up tuck-shop selling juices, popcorn and raffle tickets, with free tea and coffee and donations welcome. It raised over €170.

“I'm thrilled, it may only be a small amount in the grand scheme, but every little bit helps,” said Ms Cullen.

More fundraisers will be held for the campus pitch, shared by Maryborough NS and Gaelscoil Phortlaoise.
