The Abbeyleix branch of Bank of Ireland is in line for a major refurbishment with  €7 million being allocated nationwide to give branches a facelift. The work is being carried out under the bank's branch upgrade programme with works in Abbeyleix due to be completed by the end of the year. 

"Each refurbishment will see enhanced branch access being implemented, new state of the art ATMs with accessibility enhancements being installed, a dedicated room in each branch being provided for neurodiverse or vulnerable customers, and a bright and modern look and feel designed to welcome our customers as we serve their banking needs," a spokesperson for Bank of Ireland told Leinster Express/Laois Live.

 "Upgrade works on the Abbeyleix branch are due to be completed by the end of the year."Works have already been completed in the Roscrea branch in Tipperary which would be used by many Laois locals. Each of the 24 refurbished branches will have a dedicated office to support vulnerable or neurodiverse customers and colleagues. Enhanced wheelchair access has been implemented at several locations.

Our overall branch investment, including refurbishments, state-of-the-art ATMs, and life-saving defibrillators, reflects our deep commitment to serving communities. We will continue to invest in our branches, which provide access to cash and other essential banking services for customers.”
