Accused of robbery and assault in Laois

A man appeared in court charged with robbery and assault in Laois.
Neilus Cooney, 44, of 3 Strand Street, Tralee, Kerry is accused of assaulting a man at Grove Park, Mountmellick on September 24 last. He is also charged with robbing a man of €25 during the incident.
“It is a very serious assault and I think there is a robbery as well,” Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby told Judge Andrew Cody.
Judge Cody remanded the man on bail to reappear at Portlaoise District Court on May 18.
