Laois has got a good tourism thumbs up by top RTÉ star Ryan Tubridy.
The former Late Late Show presenter visited Emo Court and sang its praises on his morning radio show, after sharing an Instagram video of the birdsong, the Wellingtonia tree lined avenue and the exterior of the big house.
"Emo Court is beautiful. Thunder was rumbling overhead at that time in the Midlands yesterday and then it stopped and it went fully hot. It was like a scene from Pride and Prejudice and then the beautiful grounds. I put up an Instagram post of the birdson and the walled garden. And this gorgeous mansion with a great story I won't get into now.
"And a great coffee shop there too. So if you are in the area...
"Interestingly enough when I was parking the car I noticed a sign saying welcome everybody and about ten photographs of dogs, different breeds and it said if you own one of these, muzzle it. It was all the breeds that you see, they're not associated with great news stories.
"Thank you to Marian up in Emo Court who was very generous with her time, looking at some of the most beautiful architecture and plasterwork strangely, it's just so gorgeously restored.
"So if you're in Laois... I didn't have time to get to the Rock of Dunamase and then people were telling me 'you should go to the workhouse' which I really want to go to, so I'll definitely get back there.
"I'm always going west or north west and never quite stopping along the way so I'll make a habit of that now this summer," Ryan Tubridy said.
Delighted Laois tourism businesses reacted quickly to entice him and others to the county.
Glamping Under The Stars gave some suggestions.
"Lovely to have you here in Laois Ryan! Emo Court is one of our favourite places to visit, but there are plenty of other gems in Laois too. You’ll have to come back & see the Rock of Dunamaise, Abbeyleix boardwalk over the bog, Lutyens Garden in Ballinakill, and the Slieve Bloom Mountains at the very least! You are very welcome to visit our hobbit village at @glampingunderstars next time too!
The Nook & Cranny Giftshop commented too.
"Lucky enough to live & have our business here Ryan. Emo Court is on our doorstep. Hope that you are enjoying some free time and thanks for sharing this gorgeous part of the county . Ladonna"
