Brendan Guinan at Fior Bhia Farm
Anyone who wants to see how a local farmer in Laois is making his farm climate and nature friendy will be able to see first hand the work being done during Heritage Week.
Laois Public Participation Network (PPN) is hosting a Sustainable Farm Walk and BBQ at Fior Bhia Farm as part of its Climate Action Project 2023.
The walk will be led by Brendan Guinan who is described as the caretaker and founder of Fior Bhia Farm. Laois PPN said more about the farm and the event.
"On Fior Bhia Farm, attendees will step back in time and learn how they farm with nature and without chemical fertilizers, sprays, antibiotics or preservatives. Fior bhia Farm produces free range pork, eggs, meat chickens, heritage bronze turkeys, rose veal, honey and biochar.
"Using forested land in collaboration with nature, the animals contribute to the health of the soil and forest. Fior bhia Farm captures carbon and increases bio-diversity. Fior Bhia Farm has been recognised at the 2023 RDS Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Awards," said Laois PPN.
The event, which takes place on Saturday, August 19 at 11am, is free to Laois PPN member groups and others.
Laois PPN will contact participants whose registration was successful prior to the event at Boglone, Portlaoise. Eircode R32
