RTÉ crisis to feature in new book by the station's former Midlands newsman

RTÉ wage under reporting over Tubridy fallout slammed as ‘a betrayal’, storms Longford's former Montrose journalist

Ciaran Mullooly

The former Midlands RTÉ correspondent Ciaran Mullooly, who covered big stories in Laois and other counties for a quarter of a century, is set to publish a new book.

Mr Mullooly revealed on social media that his new book will be published in September and will cover a mixture of topics including his views on the latest crisis which has engulfed the station over payments to Ryan Tubridy.

The journalist, who retired from the station in June 2021 after 27 years, has been outspoken about the crisis and higlighted some of what he believes have been the causes.

The book, to be published on September 16, will recount his coverage of Midlands news and touch on community projects in rural Ireland.

He also wrote Death On Holy Thursday - The Shooting Of John Carthy In Abbeylara and Back To The Future - Reflections on rural Ireland, recession and renewal over 30 years of journalism.
