New fundraiser launched in Laois for old convent renovation project

The group was set up in January 2023 after past pupils held their first school reunion in 32 years.

Members of the Class of 1990 Restoration Project have announced a new fundraising event in aid of the renovations to the old Brigidine Convent in  Mountrath.

The group was set up in January 2023 after past pupils held their first school reunion in 32 years. They decided to come together to help restore and renovate the buildings for community use.

Their next event is a table quiz in St Philomena's Hall, Mountrath on Thursday, May 2 at 8pm.

Last year  the group held two events raising approximately €7,000 to keep the convent buildings usable for future generations.

The former Convent building was donated by the Brigidine Sisters to the local community in 2017.

There will be trophies and cash prizes to be won at the table quiz and tables of four cost €40. You can book through Eventbrite or by email 1990restproject@gmail.com.
