Delicious food stalls, Bollywood dancing, Indian and Irish music and a range of fun activities will be available at the first ever UTSAV Midland Indian Fest in Portlaoise GAA Club later this month.

The event is being organised by the Indian Cultural Community Laois(ICCL) who expect it will attract between 3,000 and 5,000 visitors from across Ireland on the day. The non profit organisation promotes Indian culture through collaboration and community initiatives.

The event will be attended by Minister of State Sean Fleming, Portlaoise GAA Chairman Eamonn ‘Teddy’ Fennelly, recently retired County Manager John Mulholland, Principal of Holy Family Junior School Enda Hickey, Garda Inspector Joe Culliton and special celebrity guest, Indian Actress Anna Rajan.

This festival, held for the first time in Laois, focuses on multi-cultural events such as Irish dancing by Gorman Schools of Irish dance, a performance by St Joseph's Accordion Band Portlaoise, African music, Indian classical dance, and Bollywood dance Chendamelam (musical instruments), as well as sports activities such as Tug-of-War, arm-wrestling, shot-put, penalty shootouts, a bowling competition, Rubik's Cube solving and pencil drawing. Organisers promise enormous and fun-filled children's rides and bouncy castles, live music and a DJ and tantalising Indian food.

The Indian Cultural Community Laois say the event will entertain all the family no matter what age. The event is free and convenient parking is available by booking online at  https://www.eventblitz.ie/event/utsav2024/.

The UTSAV 2024 will taken place at the GAA Club in Rathleague, Portlaoise on Saturday, July 27 from 9am to 9pm. The main sponsors are Hume Auctioneers and Sand Wood.
