Outdoor painting, yoga and more at upcoming Laois arts festival

The Twin Trees Art & Culture Festival returns to Ballinakill this August, offering an enriching blend of artistic exploration, natural beauty, and wellness activities.

From August 22-24, the festival invites participants of all ages and skill levels to immerse themselves in a variety of creative and restorative experiences.

The En Plein Air Painting workshop is back by popular demand.

A cornerstone of the Twin Trees Festival, this three-day event is designed to cater to both beginners and experienced artists, with a strong emphasis on creating a welcoming and supportive environment for those new to painting.

Participants will have the chance to paint in some of the most stunning locations in Co. Laois, including Heywood Gardens, Masslough Lake, and Ballinakill Village.

Guided by expert tutors Jock Nichol and Neal Greig, organisers say that this workshop will help participants develop their skills, whether they're picking up a brush for the first time or refining their technique.

There will also be workshops for younger artists, specifically designed for teens aged 12-16.

The Teen Art Workshops will run over three days, where participants will engage in a range of activities, including drawing tutorials, sketchbook making and outdoor painting.

"No previous experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and a passion to learn!" said organisers.

All materials for these workshops are provided, making it easy for teens to dive into the creative process.

The fee for these workshops is €60 for three days, including materials.

On Sunday August 25, the festival will conclude with a peaceful and rejuvenating Yoga Session in Hewywood Gardens.

Led by Simon Rogers of Blackhill Woods Retreat, this session is a perfect opportunity to unwind and connect with nature.

Simon, a passionate yoga teacher and Natural Health and Wellbeing Therapist, will guide participants through a calming practice that caters to all levels of experience.

This session costs €15, and attendees are asked to bring their own yoga mats.

"The Twin Trees Art & Culture Festival offers something for everyone—whether you're an aspiring artist, a seasoned painter, a creative teen, or someone looking to relax and recharge," said organisers.

"Join us for a few days of creativity, inspiration, and connection in one of Ireland's most beautiful settings."

Fee for the festival: €130 for three days or €50 per day.
