There is an exciting update from the 'Ballyroan Goes to Hollywood' fundraiser, as organisers took to the Ballyroan Facebook page to announce that donations are now sitting at a comfortable €106,000 as of this Sunday, November 3.

Over the last several months, The Ballyroan Community Development Association have been running fundraisers in order to fund and assist with the development of the derelict site known locally as 'the boys school' (Main Street Ballyroan, Co Laois).

The development will include a playground, multi use games area (MUGA) and additional parking.

Believing it is the perfect addition to the community, the village banded together in order to make this dream a reality, working tirelessly to ensure they raise as much money as they can for Ballyroan, which is home to just 647 people, per the 2022 census.

The 'Ballyroan goes to Hollywood' event consists of over 100 volunteers, participating, whether it be acting, editing or other, in seven films which are then edited down to 10 minutes.

Each movie group is fundraising for this cause.

The fundraiser's target figure is €150,000 and donations will be accepted until Sunday, November 24, when the fundraiser culminates. You can donate here

Announcing the latest news on the fundraiser, the group said, "We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who has been apart of this amazing journey. We have an amazing cast of over 100 people involved, the support every fundraiser has received from people attending, the people behind the scenes helping with set up, making sandwiches, selling tickets, and everything in between and not to mention every business that has donated towards our fundraiser...Thank you."
