Paul Colgan posted the update on his X account saying: "After 10 great years as Economics Correspondent at Virgin Media News and UTV Ireland I am moving on at the end of the year.

"I've really enjoyed working with so many talented colleagues and covering some of the biggest stories during that time - including Brexit, Trump and the rise of 'Big Tech'.

"But now is the time to explore other opportunities in what is an exciting period in news and current affairs. Thanks to everyone who I've worked with at VM News and who have supported me along the way."
