The Portlaoise Camera Club was set up in February 2011, when a group of enthusiastic photographers came together to form what has become a vibrant and very active society in Laois.

The Club and its members have achieved many benchmarks since the first year in the 15 years since. They've built up a very active social media page, run workshops, organised field trips to hosted exhibitions and even winning a national photography competition. They were also delighted to publish our book “Laois Through The lens” in 2023.

They say the aim for 2025 is for every member of Portlaoise Camera Club to further their photographic learning and to enjoy themselves while doing so.

Meetings consist of photo shoots, speakers, workshops, field trips and the helpful advice of other members.

The meetings cover a variety of things from practical nights where we take / process photographs, talks by visiting photographers and sharing photographs we have taken to receive very valuable feedback to help learning.

Club members consider it very important to keep up the friendly spirit of the club so we will be running a number of social events throughout the year and look forward to meeting old and new friends in 2025.

The club meets from 8 - 10pm every Wednesday in Portlaoise Parish Centre.

“Portlaoise Camera Club is aimed at people who are passionate about photography, whatever their skill level. New members are always welcome so feel free to come down any Wednesday,” said the appeal.
