CRAICLY Stories invites locals to historic houses for a night of drinks, food and storytelling

"Great craic!": Laois included on tour of exciting storytelling event

A new and exciting storytelling event will come to Stradbally this Spring.

CRAICLY STORIES & Historic Houses of Ireland (HHI) are collaborating through 2025 with a series of storytelling events hosted by member properties through 2025.

The events within these homes will celebrate layers of stories of the house, but importantly the area, the county, the townlands and the people within them.

CRAICLY is a storytelling project that pops up in atmospheric, unique venues all over Ireland. Combining places and people, CRAICLY uses storytelling, and the sharing of true stories and experiences to help bring us together...and to have some craic doing it!

Live Storytelling is such a key, cultural way to reconnect with one another as well as appreciating and enjoying the places that we all share.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with CRAICLY this year!" said Mr Justin Green, HHI Chairman and owner of Ballyvolane House.

"We see a great match here in our cultural and social focus and the Irish heritage of storytelling is absorbed within the walls of these properties! What a lovely way to enjoy them together.”

CRAICLY founder Ms Jane Gormely hailed the event as an exciting opportunity for people to connect.

“Storytelling gatherings are fun, interesting, sociable events and we are thrilled to open the doors alongside HHI to get to see these spaces and enjoy them together as a community," Ms Gormley said.

"We are all about connecting people and places and so excited to do that in these beautiful homes!” she finished.

The Big House in Ireland is of important significance, and this tour looks forward to blending these social histories through fun, celebratory storytelling evenings. Ireland is a country of great and fascinating architectural and social history. Our story tour is one more step towards the local and national community involvement and enjoyment and pride in these beautiful spaces.
