Laois singers with a taste for theatrics are being invited to auditions in Portlaoise of the he local musical society's 2025 production.

Come From Away is the big show planned by the award-winning society in November at the Dunamaise Arts Centre. It tells the story of thousands of people who were stranded in Newfoundland after jets were grounded following the 9/11 attacks in New York.

After a planning meeting in the middle of May, the society has scheduled an auditions event for Come From Away on Sunday, May 25 in Portlaoise. Lead roles are open to the public.

"We’re calling all high-flyers ready to take on a role. All roles are open to the public. So buckle up, bring your best, and get ready to be part of something extraordinary," says the Society.

If interested the team ask that you email Portlaoisemusicalsoc@gmail.com to receive your audition pieces and registration form. They say this will secure your time slot.

Auditions get underway at 12pm on Sunday at the Holy Family Senior School in Sumerhill. Chorus roles will remain members only for now.

"Don’t miss your chance to be part of this incredible show," says the Society.

The new production team for the 2025 show is: Director - Art McGauran, Choreographer - Lea Carroll and Musical Director - Mairéad McKenna.

The product runs from November 15-22 in the Dunamaise Arts Centre.
