Dopamine, Kevin Quigley and Lisa Marie Music
Grass Roots Sessions returns to Kavanaghs Bar & Venue, Portlaoise Thursday, August 14, following what the organisers say was a hugely successful opening night that should set the tone for an unforgettable series of new music.
Showcasing original music from the heart of the Midlands in Portlaoise, the organisers say the second instalment continues the mission of giving emerging bands and artists a professional platform to perform, connect, and be heard.
"With another powerful lineup of fresh talent, Grass Roots Sessions 2 is set to build on the energy and support of the opening night—delivering raw, authentic live music in one of Ireland’s most respected grassroots venues," the organisers told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
Three more acts are on the bill, starting with Kevin Quigley & The Great Ideas. MORE BELOW PHOTO.

This Timahoe troubador is described as a fresh voice in Irish folk rock, who is a natural-born storyteller with music strikes a deep emotional chord.
"Blending the heart of classic folk with a sharp contemporary edge, his songs are rich in narrative, melody, and raw authenticity. Influenced by legends like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Glen Hansard, Quigley’s sound channels timeless songwriting while carving out something uniquely his own," say the Grass Roots team.
Next up is Dopamine. MORE BELOW PHOTO.

Young but not new to the local scene, this Portarlington-founded indie rock four-piece are known for their energetic performances and fast-growing following.
"With standout singles and a debut album on the way, Dopamine are quickly making their mark on the Irish scene. The band is made up of four members: Juan Miguel Deborde (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Seán Fleming (lead guitar, vocals), Kris Gavin (bass), and Seán Woods (drums). Their undeniable chemistry and diverse musical backgrounds help shape a distinct and cohesive sound," say Grass Roots.
Finally, to Lisa Marie Music. MORE BELOW PHOTO.

Lisa began her musical journey singing acapella as a child in her parents’ Dublin home, later training in stage school and performing solo from the age of 14. Initially pursuing dance, she soon turned to songwriting—starting with poetry and evolving into original songs on guitar. After completing music courses and performing with bands, she released her debut EP Bridges and Gateways in 2021. Now based in Wexford, Lisa performs with guitar virtuoso Dave Murphy, a former classmate she unknowingly shared a classroom with 20 years ago.
