A popular Laois pub was the chosen setting for a new music video last week.

Fisherstown was buzzing with excitement last Tuesday evening as Irish country music favourite Michael English descended on the village to record the video for his latest single ‘The Girls From Clare.’ The shoot took place in the much-loved Fisherman’s Thatched Inn, a venue steeped in music and dance tradition.

The upbeat track, which is already enjoying widespread radio play across the country, has quickly become a highlight at Michael’s live shows. Fans young and old have been singing and dancing along to the catchy tune, helping cement its place as a future favourite.

The Castledermot native, who is among Ireland’s best-known entertainers, continues to sell out venues, theatres, and dance halls nationwide. True to form, hundreds of fans flocked to Fisherstown to be part of the video recording, creating a lively atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the song.

Proprietor of the Fisherman’s Thatched Inn, Sean Ward, said he was thrilled to welcome Michael and his supporters.

“We were delighted to have Michael back here again. There’s always great excitement when he records at the pub, and the crowd created a brilliant energy for the video,” he said.

Michael has a long-standing connection with the Fisherman’s Thatched Inn, having previously filmed videos for hits such as ‘Friday at the Dance’ and ‘Locklin’s Bar’ at the venue – songs that helped propel his career to new heights. Returning to Fisherstown felt like a natural choice for this new release.
