'It is a privilege' - RTÉ News announces new Washington correspondent

RTÉ News is pleased to announce the appointment of Jackie Fox as its new Washington Correspondent. Jackie is a multimedia journalist with RTÉ News and has reported extensively on US politics and global affairs, including covering the 2024 US Presidential Election in Washington D.C.

She will be responsible for reporting across RTÉ News' online and social platforms and on television and radio, on all aspects of life in the United States and providing analysis of how US policy decisions affect Ireland.

Jackie has worked as a journalist for RTÉ for 14 years, reporting on a range of foreign, national and regional news stories. She has reported for RTÉ from countries including Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, and Seychelles on issues surrounding human rights and climate change.

Jackie created and co-presented three series’ of the popular RTÉ US politics podcast States of Mind. She has also presented some of RTÉ’s flagship news programmes including Morning Ireland and This Week.

Jackie holds an MA in American Studies from the UCD Clinton Institute and an MA in Journalism and BA in Communication Studies, both from DCU. She also recently completed a London School of Economics certificate in Business, International Relations, and the Political Economy.

Reacting to her appointment Jackie said:

"It is a privilege to take up the role of RTÉ’s Washington Correspondent, especially during such a pivotal moment in American history.

"The last year has seen major shifts in US foreign policy and a changing landscape in domestic politics. Washington is at the centre of this dramatic transformation. I’m really looking forward to reporting from this frontline and examining what it all means for Ireland and the world.

"As we know, news from DC reverberates faster than ever through the online world. My focus will be on delivering clear, trusted reporting from broadcast to digital."

Jackie will be commencing her new role in March 2026.
