Vendetta Love, one of the eight Laois acts who are part of the Laois Aloud night in the Anvil Inn on May 21 kicking off at 6pm.
The public have a unique chance to see eight up and coming original Laois bands and musicians in a completely free concert this Saturday in Portarlington.
Laois Aloud, a showcase of talent takes place in a covered open air venue behind the Anvil Inn on Main Street from 6pm to late on Saturday, May 21.
It is organised by Portarlington Art Collective, a group of artists from across Laois, and supported by Laois County Council.
The acts are: Saoirse Lawlor from Portlaoise; Motion Sickness from Portlaoise / Mountrath, Monsters of Craic, Dopamine and Wayne Brereton all from Portarlington, Curdogs from Mountmellick, Ares Redemption (below) from Port/Portlaoise and Vendetta Love from Portlaoise/ Dublin.
JackEakins performs with Ares Redemption.
“There is no original music scene in Laois, they all play cover songs. There is no venue for original artists to perform. Most have online singles but people just don't know about these performers.
“This is a night to highlight that talent and hopefully generate an interest to shift towards original acts and inspire younger people maybe to write their own music if they have somewhere to play it. We think it's going to be a brilliant night. Under 18s can stay once they are accompanied by an adult,” he said.
Port Art Collective is an independent group that aims to promote the talented local creatives of Portarlington and surrounding areas, open to artists, musicians, actors, photographers, filmmakers and all creatives. Find them on social media and on https://www.portartcollective.ie/
Laois Aloud is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports & Media
