Beautiful new photographs of a revitalised, biodiverse Laois bog have been printed in a fundraising calendar.
From tiny insects to birds eye view vistas, the rich nature in Abbeyleix Bog, photographed by visitors, is to be seen again in the 2023 Abbeyleix Bog Project calendar, out this week.
Volunteers at Abbeyleix Bog Project have produced their popular calendar for the fourth year, to celebrate the rich natural history and amenity value of the local biodiversity hotspot, and raise money for the ongoing conservation and restoration work on site.
Past editions of the calendar proved very popular and sell out annually.
Photo submissions were invited earlier this year with local and visiting photographers who submitted a wide range of beautiful photos for consideration. Fourteen photos in all made the cut.
The calendar is available each Saturday morning at Abbeyleix Market and at the bog entrance each Sunday right up to Christmas.
Local outlets in Abbeyleix include; Anthology, Mueller & O’Connell Bakery, Abbeyleix Post Office (SuperValu), Clelands and Abbeyleix Credit Union.
The calendar can also be purchased at AllBooks and Bookmarks in Portlaoise as well as at Centra Ballyroan. Each calendar costs €10 or three for €25 and all funds raised go directly into supporting the conservation and upkeep of Abbeyleix Bog.
Abbeyleix Bog Project thanks all the photographers who make the production of the calendar possible and all our supporters, visitors, and friends.
