The rousing one-man tour de force of live theatre ‘Catalpa’ comes to the stage of the Dunamaise Arts Centre this February.
Written and Performed by Donal O’Kelly whose vibrant imagination brings audiences aboard the whaling ship Catalpa for an epic adventure, this piece of theatre is lyrical and passionate, satirical and very funny.
Based on a true story of the daring 1875 rescue of six Irish prisoners, Catalpa is about heroes and visionaries, political intrigue and personal loyalty, with hot romance, bumbling rebels and battles at sea.
This production also features live music by Trevor Knight.
This show, described by no less than the Washington Post as “a rip-roaring one-man adventure” will be staged on Tuesday, February 3, at 8pm. The Irish Examiner said of the production, “If ever there was a play you should see, this is it.”
Tickets for ‘Catalpa’ are priced €16, friends of the Dunamaise €14.
