Laois Libraries will be running LEGO Animation Workshops this year.
Following on from the success of the LEGO Club in Abbeyleix, Durrow and Stradbally the Animation Project is looking to take it even further and encouraging older children and teenagers to get involved.
The ethos of the project is to get pre-teens and teenagers to become creators and not just consumers of media content. To develop their social skills and their social networks.
It doesn’t really matter what you are making what is important is that you are making something that is meaningful to yourself or others around you.
The project will allow participants to draw on both the technical and creative sides of themselves.
During the course of the project, the participants will plan, script, shoot, do voice work and produce their own LEGO movies.
These dramatic activities are crucial to their development because through stories and drama, they develop better understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Creative writing encourages them to exercise their creative minds and gives them the opportunity to assert themselves. These developments can really strengthen their self-confidence and help them find their voice.
To register interest in the project please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Abbeyleix or Durrow library.
This project is open to ages 10+.
