Ready for some Tai Chi in Mountrath?
It is far from Tai Chi we were reared in Laois, but get ready to practice your best moves because this and other free activities are coming to a public park.
The good people of Mountrath will soon be able to take fitness classes in Slí na bPáiste amenity park, with the start of a new course of free workouts.
Laois Active Parks Programme, supported by Laois County Council, is kicking off their 40 minute lunchtime classes in Mountrath this Thursday March 21, from 1pm to 1.40pm.
It will continue every Thursday until May 9. The first two weeks are offering Metafit, described as a workout uniting pilates, boxing and dance, to improve flexibility, strength and cardio.
The second two weeks have workouts with Activator Poles, combining walking with low to moderate strength exercises, ideal for stability and reducing injury risks.
Weeks 5 and 6 will offer Tai Chi, a workout embracing mind, body and spirit, while the final two Thursdays are titled Stronger, Healthier, Happier, a low impact, full-body strength circuit.
The classes are delivered by local fitness trainers. To book email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 8664058
