The countdown is well and truly on to Laois GAA's Scór na bPaistí competition which is set to feature the cream of young Laois talent.
This competition is open to all GAA members of primary school age who can dance, sing, tell a yarn, play an instrument or be part of a novelty group.
Scór competitions are organized along similar lines to hurling and Gaelic football championships where the following events take place:
- Rince fóirne (céilí dancing)
- Amhránaíocht aonair (solo singing)
- Ceol uirlise (instrumental music)
- Aithriseoirecht/scealaíocht (recitation/storytelling)
- Bailéad Ghrúpa (ballad group)
- Leiriú (novelty act)
- Rince Seit (set dancing)
- Tráth na gCeisteanna (table quiz)
Ballad groups just need to sing one song on the evening whilst instrumental groups only need to play one tune.
If you would like clarification on anything please email firstname.lastname@example.org after 6 pm any evening.
Scór takes place on Friday, April 5 in St Fintan’s Hall Mountrath at 6 pm sharp, registration from 5 pm. The organisers say the event promises to be a very entertaining event.
(The day and time of the event was changed due to the appearance of Laois in the Division 3 Allianz National Football League final)
