THE Eigse Festival held in Carlow recently announced Irish singer Bronagh Gallagher as one of their headlining acts for this year’s festival. She will be performing in the GB Shaw Theatre on Friday June 7.
Bronagh Gallagher is described as a deeply soulful artist with a unique gift for singing and storytelling. Bronagh is already well known for her parts in Pulp Fiction, Star Wars and most famously for The Committments but her first love is singing.
When Gallagher takes to the stage, she pays homage to the ‘60s and early ‘70s with extraordinary knowledge, her own soulful vocals unveiling influences such as Dusty Springfield, Al Green, The Shangri-Las, Aretha Franklin, Merry Clayton and Emmy Lou Harris. She moves from stirring Motown to sultry soul to delicious gospel to lowdown Harlem blues.
She also writes her own material with two albums to her name, Precious Soul (2004) and Bronagh Gallagher (2012). Tickets for this show are priced at €22 and are available now. Check out Eigse’s website for more.
