The Laois Arthouse was a hive of activity recently when artist Nick Miller painted portraits over ten days.
Thirty-five watercolour portraits were painted and the majority of sitters came from around Laois. Other sitters came from Longford, Roscommon, Dublin, Galway and England.
Nick was also commissioned to paint the portraits of Cathy Carmen and Pat Boran in oil by Laois County Council and these portraits will become part of the Laois County Art Collection. A selection of Nick’s portrait related works have been borrowed from the IMMA Collection. On the final day of the residency a large crowd turned out to hear Christina Kennedy, Head of Collections at the IMMA interview Nick. The residency was a big success.
