THE Druid’s visit to Portlaoise is a rare opportunity to see two Druid plays in one week. Audience members can see them individually or see both together with a special combination ticket offer on Saturday 18 May.
A Whistle in the Dark is set in Coventry in 1960 when Irish emigrants, the uprooted Carney family, adapt aggressively to life in an English city. Conversations on a Homecoming is set in Galway in the 1970s. Even the humblest of small-town pubs can be a magnet for dreamers. Michael, after a ten-year absence, suddenly returns from New York and has a reunion with old friends, in that same pub ‘The White House’. A special double bill of both plays takes place on Saturday May 18. For the schedule of both plays people can visit www.dunamaise.ie.
