The day started with the children’s fancy dress competition which was won by Harry Molloy who was Superman and Hannah Mahon who came as Queen of the Mountain.

The glamorous granny competition was won by Bridgie Young from Clonaslee. There was a welcome return visit from last year’s Queen of the Mountain 2013 Tanya Kane who assisted in presenting this year’s Queen, Martina Ryan from Ballyfin. The King of the Mountain was Ross Mahon, Rosenallis.

The Monica Hyland Perpetual Plaque was awarded to Annette Dwyer on winning the mothers race, while Eoin Conroy won the fathers race.

The day was filled with fun with guess the weight of the llama, fish dish, a donkey derby, exhibitions of native birds and birds of prey, bouncing castles, a dog show, and children’s races,

The tug of war completed the day with the winners after an exciting pull against Rosenallis being O’Loughlin’s Hotel, Portlaoise. The Rosenallis ICA ladies kindly provided tea and refreshments while many took a chance on the wheel of fortune.

The committee would like to thank all our sponsors for making this day possible, and they would also like to thank judges Bert and Caroline.

Chairman Seamus McDonald said: “We’ve had a great day, the weather makes it. I want to thank our sponsors, the hardworking committee who do a great job every year and the people who come each year.”
