Bail for man accused of rape and sexual assault in Laois

A man with a Kildare address faces trial over an alleged rape and sexual assault in Laois in 2020.  

The DPP directed that the defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, be sent for trial to the Central Criminal Court. 

The 36 year-old man was remanded on bail on strict conditions including that he surrender his passport, have no contact with the alleged injured party and sign on once a week at his local garda station. 

He was granted legal aid and remanded on bail to reappear for the service of a book of evidence in February.
