Services provided to people with cancer and their families in Laois have been boosted this Christmas with the presentation of funds from women in business thanks to Anna May McHugh.

The Midlands Local Enterprise Offices of Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath held a National Women's Enterprise Day Event with Ms Anna May McHugh, National Ploughing Association (NPA) Managing Director as guest speaker.

Speaking at the event, Ms McHugh expressed her desire to donate to charity rather than accepting a fee.  The NPA is pleased to announce that she chose the Cuisle Centre as the beneficiary of €1,00 donation.

It's hoped that this contribution will support the valuable work that you do in our community.

Sincere thanks were extended to Ms McHugh for her commitment to supporting such a worthy cause and for recognising the importance of the Cuisle Centre.

Founded in Laois and based in Block Road, its mission is to ensure nobody in our community feels alone while living with cancer. The mission is to provide a range of emotional support, survivorship, and rehabilitation services to those living with, through and beyond cancer in the community.

All services are provided free of charge.

The National Women's Enterprise Day took place in October 2023.
