Homebase in Laois has been confirmed as one of the company's Irish stores now bought up by The Range UK homeware retail chain.
The Leinster Express / Laois Live has received confirmation that the Portlaoise home improvement store in Portlaoise Retail Park, is among two of the eight Irish Homebase stores bought up by The Range.
Homebase staff in Portlaoise have been assured of no job losses, with no date given yet as to when the shop takeover and rebranding will take place.
It follows the High Court liquidation of HHGL (ROI) Limited, the company behind Homebase in Ireland. Teneo Restructuring (Ireland) Limited were appointed Joint Provisional Liquidators of HHGL (ROI) Limited on 13 November 2024.
Ms Justice Miriam O’Regan approved the store sales to The Range, which is also snapping up many of the chain’s UK stores.
The UK administrators have said that they completed a sale of the brand and up to 70 UK stores to The Range, part of CDS Superstores (International) Limited.
HHGL’s lawyers said The Range’s bid was selected as it involves the fewest risks and is most likely to save the most jobs, with up to 115 of 178 potentially salvageable.
The Range currently has 225 stores across the UK, selling a wide range of goods including homewares, garden, leisure, DIY, furniture and art supplies.
