Mr Connell Breslin, owner of Breslin's Supervalu in Rathdowney and Abbeyleix, has said that many local businesses are doing what they can during the storm.
"This initiative is something that would happen across the country," he said.
"When you are in a community, you are part of a community," Mr Breslin said.
"It's only a small gesture, but if there is anything we can do, we will. There are other businesses around Rathdowney doing the same," he said.
"We all want to help out where we can, we have power and others might not. If there's anything we can do to help, we can and we will," Mr Breslin finished.
Laois has now been downgraded to a Status Yellow weather warning, in place until 4pm on Friday.
