Grand Laois Kildare credit union opening in Electric Picnic town

A new era is about to dawn in Stradbally with the opening of a new branch of the big Laois Kildare People First Credit Union.

The team at the Portlaoise-headquartered People First Credit Union say they are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Stradbally office.

After a brief pause to facilitate relocation, the Credit Union is returning with what it says is a brand-new, modern branch, located in the SuperValu Shopping Centre at the Portlaoise side of the town.

The doors of the new branch will officially open on Thursday, March 20, with People First promising that the move mean a range of expanded and improved financial services to members in the community.

Seán Dunne, CEO of People First Credit Union, spoke enthusiastically about the new step for the business in a statement to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

“We are incredibly excited to reopen in Stradbally and reconnect with our members in this vibrant community. This expansion reflects our commitment to providing personal, member-focused financial services with the convenience of a modern branch,” he said. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

Stradbally Shopping Centre is the new home of the People First Credit Union branch in the town.

To mark the occasion, the People First team invite the public and its members for a 'Grand Opening' event on Friday, March 28 from 12pm to 4pm.

There'll also be spot prize giveaways throughout the event as well as free goodie bags for kids and face painting from 2pm to 4pm.

To coincide with the launch People First are running a Young Savers will get €10 free to encourage young parents to open accounts for their children aged up to the age of 15. Between March 28 and April 12 People First will deposit €10 into new accounts for children  to get them started on their financial future.

People First Credit Union was formed out of the merger of Portlaoise Credit Union and Abbeyleix Credit Union in September 2015. PCFU subsequently merged with Athy Credit Union in January 2017.

People First Credit Union now operates from four branches in Abbeyleix, Athy, Portlaoise and Stradbally. They have 44 staff members and over 40,000 members.
