The Boomtown Rats picked a popular Laois gastro pub to stop over on their way to playing the sold out All Together Now festival in Waterford last weekend.
Lead singer Bob Geldof kindly posed for photos with customers and staff, at O'Gorman's Pub in Kilminchy, Portlaoise on Saturday evening, August 2.
Owner Donal O'Gorman told the Leinster Express / Laois Live about it.
"We were recommended to them. Bob gave us a nice thumbs up. He was very nice even though performers don't always like too much limelight off stage. All the staff thought he was a gentleman.
"He brought his whole band, there were eight or 10 of them, they were happy with their meal and said they might call in on their way back.
It was his barman Eddie Taylor who spotted the famed Irish star, who organised the Live Aid worldwide concerts 40 years ago this year.
"We had two legends in the building at the one time," Donal joked.
The Boomtown Rats who played at Electric Picnic in 2015, performed at All Together Now as part of their 2025 festival season tour all over Europe.
