Business expands to Laois town because of 'wonderful community spirit'

Paulina Piecyk, proprietor of Finest Flowers in Athy and soon in Mountmellick.

Mountmellick in Laois is welcoming the news that a florist is opening a shop in their town.

The town's only dedicated florist had closed over two years ago after 30 years in the town.

Now Finest Flowers, owned by Paulina Piecyk, is opening its doors.

Paulina already has a shop in Athy, Kildare.

She told the Leinster Express / Laois Live why she is expanding her business to Mountmellick, set to open shortly.

"I chose Mountmellick because it’s a town with a wonderful community spirit and I feel it’s the right place to build my business.

"From the very start, local deliveries will be an essential part of what I do, not only in Mountmellick itself but across Laois,  Kildare,  Offaly and the surrounding areas. Shortly after opening I also plan to expand to nationwide courier delivery, making it possible for my flowers to reach customers all over Ireland," Paulina said.

She intends to take on local staff.

"The opening will also create new jobs, which I see as an important part of growing together with the community," she said.

There will be a full range of goods on sale.

"In the shop, customers will find flowers for every occasion, from weddings and everyday celebrations to funerals, as well as a selection of potted plants. I’ll also have balloons for all occasions and chocolates so people can put together thoughtful gifts in one place.

"I know it’s an ambitious vision but I believe it’s important to aim high. At the same time, my focus will always remain on offering quality flowers and personal service to the people right here in Mountmellick," she said.

Finest Flowers Mountmellick will have a grand opening on Wednesday, October 1 at 32A Patrick Street.
