Some 20,000 copies of a new visitor’s guide to Laois are to be distributed to promote tourism in the county.
Laois Tourism published the guide as a part of a new the Laois Best of Ireland project set out to produce a quality marketing tool to establish Laois as a “highly attrative and unique destination”.
Some €5,000 has been spent on the publication, produced in association with Southern Marketing Design Media Group. It includes information on Laois’ history and heritage, people and places as well as what there is to do. It informs the visitor of the activities, accommodation, eateries, bars/clubs, retail outlets and more. It aims to encourage visitors to stay longer, return and recommend Laois to their friends.
The Best of Ireland team have been working for a number of months to capture all that is great about Laois. Laois Tourism say they have found a “great manay stories” in Laois.
Laois’ County Manager Peter Carey is also Chairman of Laois Tourism.
“We are delighted that Laois will be part of the ongoing series which currently features areas such as Adare, Kilkenny, Dundalk and Limerick City & County,” he said.
Some 10,000 copies will be distributed through hotels, guest houses tourist information centres and through the network registered to be part of the project.
Laois County Council will secure a further 10,000 copies which will be used to supplement this distribution, and be used for tourism marketing initiatives such as the ploughing championships, trade fairs and other marketing during the year.
This will bring the total distribution figure to 20,000 throughout the County and beyond.
