Laois company wins big award for work at big Dublin hospital

Portlaoise-based Aubren wins at SEAI awards
A Laois business has won a top national award for sustainability for an upgrade at one of Ireland's biggest hospital campuses.
Portlaoise-based Aubren is the winner of the Best Sustainable Product at the ‘Product of the Show’ Awards run by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) at the RDS in Dublin.
The SEAI say Aubren was awarded the prize for work at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Dublin. The company was recognised for the delivery of a phased air handling unit (AHU), which supplies and extracts air from a building and a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) decarbonisation programme.
The organisers said the retrofit involved upgrading the existing air handling units with high-efficiency electronically commutated (EC), fan technology to reduce energy use, carbon emissions and lifecycle impact while maintaining uninterrupted clinical operations.
Founded in 2000 and headquartered at Portlaoise Business & Technology Park, Aubren operates from a state-of-the-art, ISO-certified engineering and manufacturing facility supported by a highly skilled local workforce. The company has offices in the UK, mainland Europe, Dubai, and Canada.
SEAI welcomed thousands of visitors to the annual Energy Show, Ireland’s leading business‑to‑business event for sustainable energy technologies and services. One of the main highlights of the event was the Product of the Show Awards, which recognise the most innovative, energy‑efficient and impactful products and services showcased by exhibitors.
Commenting on the awards, William Walsh, CEO of SEAI, said: “SEAI’s Product of the Show Awards recognise the technologies and services that are turning Ireland’s energy ambitions into practical, real-world solutions. I want to commend all of our awardees for their role in helping to decarbonise Ireland.
“Congratulations to our overall winner, Harold Engineering, which stood out for its energy-efficient and adaptable air compressor which can deliver significant energy savings for the industrial sector.”
Alan Dillon Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment who presented the Awards at the SEAI Energy Show said: “Innovation will be critical to achieving Ireland’s climate and energy targets. The products and services recognised at the SEAI Energy Show 2026 highlight how Irish and international companies are responding with solutions that are efficient, sustainable and ready to deploy today.”
