Running from March 4th to March 9th, Local Enterprise Office Laois will be celebrating Local Enterprise Week which will focus on increasing awareness of the range of Local Enterprise Office supports and services available to micro and small enterprises.

If you are thinking of starting a business or have an established business, Enterprise Week events are a must.

The week will be a good opportunity for people to learn from the experiences of others, get practical advice and make new contacts.

All events are FREE although booking early is recommended.

During the week, entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, seminars, advice clinics and one-to-one mentoring on every aspect of business including business planning, trading online, marketing, digital marketing and a blogging clinic by well known blogger Amanda Webb, Spiderworking.

On Monday 5th March, Laois Retailers will be invited to attend a Laois Retail Masterclass which will be facilitated by Retail expert, James Burke who will be joined by a panel of speakers including Paul Condon, M.D. of Mc Cabe Pharmacy Group and Alice Fennelly, Town Leadership Team Naas who will explore the challenges facing the sector and identify some successful case studies who have succeeded in their field.

This short event will focus on practical tips and suggestions for consumer facing businesses throughout the county.

Whether you run a restaurant, retail outlet or beauticians, this event is targeted at all Laois retail businesses.

Another event during the week will take place on March 8th in the Killeshin Hotel Portlaoise at 6.30pm to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Women in business in Laois will be invited to attend this event which will feature speaker, Joanne Sweeney-Burke who will talk on ‘Stepping up to the Challenge – Developing a mindset to keep you fit mentally as a female entrepreneur’ .

As a decade-long entrepreneur, Joanne Sweeney – Burke understands what's required to keep your body and mind fit for the challenges of business.

Launching her business, the week Ireland went into recession in 2008, Joanne has failed and succeeded in equal measure.

She's also had many personal challenges during that time.

Always smiling and desperately positive, Joanne will share her story and remind female entrepreneurs that we are stronger than we think.

Joanne Sweeney-Burke owns Digital Training Institute and provides digital marketing consulting and training to organisations in Ireland and across Europe.

She is also building her own online business and scaling her personal brand.

She hosts a weekly podcast called JSB Talks Digital and is currently writing her second business book. Some people recognise her as a finalist in the TV Show, The Apprentice.

This will be followed by a Dress for Success event by stylist Joanne Costello.

Stylist Joanne Costello will deliver a ‘Dress for Success’ workshop and get you off on the right foot on how to dress for success in business. Joanne has styled high profile fashion shows, red carpet events, editorial shoots for designers, brands and celebrity covers in national and international publications.

She is a fashion contributor on TV3 Weekend AM. Whether we like it or not, first impressions really do matter and your clothes can easily become part of your image or brand without you realising it.
