A well known Laois business has announced that it will re-open soon at the former Leinster Express building in Portlaoise.

Miller's Hardware store closed its doors on Coliseum Lane, Portlaoise last August after 50 years in business.

Now, the Laois family business has announced that it will reopen its doors in the former Leinster Express building on the Dublin Road, Portlaoise.

After five months working out of Clonminam Business Park, the full product range like the old store, excluding giftware is set to re-open.

Leinster Express revealed in December that the former offices had been sold to local businessmen, Richard and Gerry Downey of the Downey's Autostop.

The property, which comprises 20,000 square feet building on a two acre site, was sold by Portarlington auctioneer, Matt Dunne.

The building, which housed the Leinster Express, dates back to the early 1970s. The Leinster Express moved to its current premises at 107 Lower Main Street, Portlaoise in 2016.
