The Maltings site
An information evening will be held on Thursday, April 11 between 4pm and 8pm in the Midland Park Hotel to answer any queries on the proposed new development at the Maltings site, Harpurs Lane, Portlaoise.
The developer, Pat Flanagan will attend to help explain the proposal, including a recent application for a three story block of apartments. These are designed to accommodate elderly and disabled people, and to incorporate shared day rooms, disabled access, with balconies in each apartment.
The overall concept plan for the site will also be on view, and the developer wishes to meet any interested party to explain what is proposed, and to take these views into account when submitting plans for the next phases.
The overall concept includes a state of the art 100 bed nursing home which is 3 storeys high. Also included is a childcare facility, and a total of 178 apartments, ranging in height from three to five storeys.
The site is located just minutes from the train station, and includes a mix of commuter, starter homes and accommodation for the elderly and disabled. The buildings will incorporate the latest high tec. building materials and will be Nearly Zero Carbon Buildings, one of the first such apartment buildings in the county to achieve this standard.
All are welcome to attend and the developer, Pat Flanagan, will try to incorporate any view or suggestion from the public in relation to the overall concept plan, and to explain and answer any queries on the planning application, already submitted, for a single block of 40 apartments, for the exclusive use by the elderly and disabled.
All are welcome.
